Entering the Contest

Before creating or submitting your video, be sure you’ve completely reviewed and understand the full Contest Rules and meet the eligibility requirements. There are three basic steps to entering the contest:

  1. Create your video that is no longer than 3 minutes (inclusive of any credits).
  2. If not already registered, sign up for a free YouTube account and then join the Your Memphis: Take One YouTube group. Upload your video to your account and then add it to the Your Memphis group.
  3. Complete the official online Entry Form and submit.

Creating Your Video

How you create your video is completely up to you. It makes no difference if you use a video camera, the camera on your cell phone, or a digital still camera that takes videos. What matters is the final product, which cannot exceed three (3) minutes in length, inclusive of any credits. Any video longer than three minutes will be disqualified from consideration. In preparing your file to be uploaded to YouTube, be sure it conforms to one of the following file formats: .wmv, .avi, .mov or .mpg. An entrant may submit up to three (3) videos to the contest to be judged separately.

Uploading Your Video

Once your video is ready for submission, make sure you follow these steps to not only upload your video to YouTube but also submit it to the Your Memphis: Take One YouTube group.

  1. If you are not yet a registered user of YouTube, sign up for a free account. Be sure you are logged into YouTube with your account information.
  2. Join the Your Memphis: Take One YouTube group.
  3. From any page within YouTube, click the yellow “Upload” button to add your video to the site. This will likely take a few minutes.
  4. Once the video is uploaded, navigate back to the Your Memphis group. Click “Add Videos”.
  5. From within the Add Videos page, select the uploaded video(s) that you wish to submit to the group. Check the box next to the video(s) and click “Add to Group”.
  6. Your video will then be reviewed to ensure it meets contest requirements and then approved. It will then appear as part of the group videos.
